What is the Business Support Desk?
The Business Support Desk (BSD) for MSMEs is a new service of the FInES capacity building programme. This is an exclusive business support service, which you can access at no cost to help you with practical and specific business needs.
What type of business challenges can you bring to the FInES BSD?
The FInES BSD only provides general business advice, tools and referrals to MSME business owners. For instance, do you need to know how to register a business or how to prepare a business plan, employment contract or a funding application?
Or do you need to know digital tools that you can use to promote sales or manage your business finance? If so, the BSD is the solution.
The BSD can offer you practical business advice – we call it STAR support – with Suggestions, Templates, Advice and Referrals to other relevant institutions within the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Are there any business challenges that the FInES BSD cannot support?
The FInES BSD cannot provide legal advice, investment advice, financial advice or advice on any matter involving legal disputes, claims, legal matters currently before the courts, or for any debt, tax or business partnership disputes. While we will always attempt to provide you with useful, practical and relevant business advice, we cannot represent or advise you in any dispute or legal matter. All advice is given in good faith, but it is your responsibility to carefully consider any advice given and responsibility for any actions taken rest solely with you.
How to access the BSD?

Who is eligible to access FInES BSD?
At the moment, the BSD is an exclusive business advisory facility for MSMEs selected to participate in Component 2.1 of the FInES capacity building programme. However, at the end of the FInES Project, the BSD will be taken over by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI).
How many times can you contact the BSD?
You can contact the FInES BSD as many times as you wish, provided there is a specific eligible request that you would like to make. Ideally, the nature of BSD support is “one-off” – we will be responding to specific one-time requests on how to resolve practical business challenges in relation to sales and customer management, financial management or operations management.
What are the working hours for the BSD?
The BSD will be accessible from Monday to Friday during working hours from 08:00 hrs to 12:00hrs and 13:30 hrs to 16:30 hrs. We will not be available after working hours, on weekends and public holidays. If the BSD desk is not manned, you will be able to leave a message.
